Hollywood has been out of fresh material for years now so inevitably they turned to comics to churn out good and bad adaptations of classic stories. Following basic formulas, they can't lose, and Ghost Rider is a good example of following that formula well. So I won't concentrate on the obvious plot of hero learning to use powers, villain, girl, etc, but focus on the dark imagery, the tragic personality of Nicholas Cage's character, and the chain swinging flaming skull guy smashing through cop cars on a hell bent motorcycle fighting grunge goth rock demons. Casting Peter Fonda as Mephistopheles was brilliant and it's great to see Nicholas Cage as the tortured soul good guy Johnny Blaze. Who cares if it doesn't change your life? It's a comic book movie with good dark imagery, action, spooky sexy bad guys, bad fashion and death. In a world of crap movies this one does the honest job of ENTERTAINING. I went expecting to hate it and left happy. Better that than the other way around.
